Here is my attempt at the Halloween apples. I am pleased with the apples but not the background. I painted this on the new watercolor paper I got at the art store in the University District on Wednesday for $1.60. I cut it into 5 X7 pieces. I have 15 pieces left. I may have painted on the wrong side if there is one. I'll try another apple on the other side tomorrow and see if it looks different.
The orange itself is GREAT- the background needs a little more intensity in the shadow and the line between the wall and the shelf needs some shadowy thingys here and there along the line and a shadow on the shelf behind the orange.
Laur, your good to go for the Christmas Bazaar. I like your simple apple and think if you can remember how you did it, you will have a good little sale item. I want to eat it ! You did GOOD !! Now you find out EXACTLY what number brush and series you used at Michelle's class and go buy it!! Below is Michelle's apple. She has a lovely wall painted golden and a brown table. In another 
one she painted the background almost like a night sky. She forgot to put a shadow on the wall for this apple, although she has one for the bowl. It makes the Bowl seem very realistic and the apple pasted on.
Morning Laur ! You definitely are good discerning between dark and light, so that it makes an interesting picture to look at. I tend to have too many middle values. I really LIKE the colors you used on the wall and the shelf. What were the main colors you used? I guesss you should lighten the egg a little but I can't say how or with what colors...hmmm... so it would stand out more against the beautiful background colors. Then you could but a firnis on it and sell it at the Bazaar as a kitchen painting. How long did it take? 
Ah, those colors are wonderful. How did you mix that green? is the blue, cobalt? They look so FRESH and modern!! If you want the poppy field to be a joyful dominant 
part of the forfield, bring the mountain top and mountain up an inch or so- that the mt top hits the upper 3/5 line of the painting, and so that you can 
expand the size of the poppy field a little.
This is definitely French lavender! Perfectly wonderful- the lavender could be toned down in spots with some shading here and there. The roof needs a few wash strokes of middle tone to break up the difference between the sky and the walls of the house. (Needs a contrast.) Make a bluish shadow under the roof eave. Make the lavender in the back receding with a lighter less lively over wash to calm it down. Maybe using blue green to wash over it just a little?
